Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply when you use the South El Monte Concrete website, ask us for an estimate or hire us for concrete work. By using the site or booking a job, you agree to them, so please read them before you schedule. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or book work through it.

In these terms, "we," "us" and "our" mean South El Monte Concrete. "You" means the person using the site or the property owner who hires us.

What we do

We're a concrete contractor in South El Monte, CA, and we're licensed and fully insured. We pour driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, slabs, foundations, retaining walls and other concrete work in South El Monte and the cities around it. The services and cities listed on our home page describe the kind of work we take on. They aren't a promise to accept any particular job.

The exact work on your property is set by the written proposal or contract we give you after the estimate. If anything on this website differs from that written agreement, the written agreement controls.

Estimates and pricing

Our estimates are free and done on site, because the price of concrete work depends on things we can only judge in person. These include the size of the area, how much old concrete has to come out, the condition of the subgrade, which is the ground the slab sits on, how easily our equipment can reach the spot and the finish you pick. An estimate is our good-faith price for the work written in it, and it holds for the period stated on it.

Sometimes we find conditions nobody could see before the old concrete came up, like buried debris, soft or wet soil, old footings, roots or utility lines. If that happens, we'll stop, show you what we found and give you any added cost in writing before we go on. Changes you ask for after signing are handled the same way.

Asking for an estimate doesn't obligate you to book, and there's no pressure to.

Scheduling, weather and cancellation

We set pour dates around the weather and the site, because concrete placed in rain or hard midday heat can end up with a weak, dusty top. Either of us may move a date without penalty for weather, late material deliveries or site conditions outside our control. We'll tell you as soon as we know a date has to change.

New concrete needs a curing period, the wait while it hardens and gains strength, before it can take foot traffic or a car. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk and drive on your new slab. Damage from using it before then isn't covered by our work guarantee.

If you need to cancel or move your job, call us at (626) 719-0110 or reach us through our contact page as early as you can. If you cancel after we've ordered material or started work, you're responsible for the costs we've already taken on, as set out in your proposal. Nothing in these terms takes away any cancellation right the law gives you.

Payment

Payment amounts, any deposit and due dates are set in your written proposal or contract. Unless it says otherwise, the final balance is due when the work described is complete, even if the concrete is still curing.

If a balance goes unpaid past its due date, we may stop further work on the job and use the collection remedies the law allows.

Our guarantee and what it doesn't cover

Our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. If something about the finished work isn't right, call us and we'll come look at it. Any specific warranty terms for your job will be written in your contract.

Concrete has natural limits we can't promise away. Hairline cracks, small differences in color and texture and normal surface wear can happen even with a well-built base and control joints, the grooves we cut so the slab cracks along a straight line instead of at random. These aren't defects.

We're not responsible for problems caused by things outside our work. These include soil movement under areas we didn't prepare, tree roots, drainage changes made after the job, vehicles heavier than the slab was built for, use before curing is done, harsh chemicals and work done by others.

Information on this website is general and provided as is. It isn't a quote or advice for your property, and we don't promise it's complete or free of errors.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, South El Monte Concrete isn't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, such as lost use of your property or lost income, connected with our work or this website. Our total liability for any claim connected with a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

Our contact form is run by an outside form service, and links to other sites are there for your convenience. We aren't responsible for how those services work or what they publish. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that California law doesn't allow us to limit.

If we disagree

If you're unhappy with our work or a bill, tell us first by phone or through our contact page, and give us a fair chance to come out and fix it. Most problems get settled that way.

If we can't settle it in a reasonable time, either of us may suggest mediation or file a claim in the state courts in Los Angeles County, California, including small claims court when the amount qualifies.

Which law applies

These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of California.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time and will post the new version on this page. The version posted when you book a job applies to that job, and your signed contract won't change unless we both agree in writing.
